MAINTAINING SECURITY IN THE RECESSION

President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Mirko Cvetković, opened the Seventh Business Roundtable with the Government of Serbia called “Maintaining security in the recession”, organized by London magazine Economist, which was held in the Hotel Hyatt on Wednesday March 18 2009.
Prime Minister Cvetković spoke about the concrete actions that the Government take in order to maintain macroeconomic stability, the main priorities of the Government in the coming period, as well as the importance of arrangement with the IMF for Serbia. He said that to cover the budget deficit this year, Serbia would need from 1.2 to 1.5 billion euros.

Telekom Serbia, in cooperation with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Society and the special patronage of the President of the Republic of Serbia, organized the first donor meeting within the action “e-dukacij@”. Numerous representatives of the companies that supported this action, as well as many people from cultural and public life attended this event.

FREE INFORMATION TRAINING BY EUROPEAN STANDARDS

Within the action “e-dukacij@“ organized by Telekom Serbia, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society at the donors' conference held in the Belgrade City Assembly, free computer and Internet training for all schools according to the ECDL model - European Computer Driving License was announced.

OECD: INCREASING SKILLS IN THE ICT SECTOR

The 4th Meeting of the South East Europe Investment Committee was held in Brussels on 7 April 2009. The Meeting has been focused on the financial crisis and possible policy responses, with interventions based on the latest macroeconomic figures for 2009 (FDI, exports, employment etc) and suggestions of policies that government has put in place and is planning to respond to the crisis.

Launched in 2000, the OECD Investment Compact for South East Europe is designed to increase regional stability in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, UNMIK/Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Albania. The objective is to help policy-makers find sound policy solutions to improve the business climate for domestic and foreign investment in the region.


ADULT EDUCATION, A CHANCE FOR SOCIAL-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF SERBIA

Minister of Education in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Žarko Obradović said that Serbia needed a Law on adult education, which should make multifunctional and diverse educational needs of the population become an integral part of a complete educational system.  At the opening of the conference "Adult education - the opportunity for socio-economic development of Serbia" Obradović said that the law could be found on the agenda of the parliament in October. He also recalled that the Government of Serbia adopted the Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy for development of adult education in Republic of Serbia for the period from 2009 until 2010.

IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances

In the Hotel Hyatt on March 19, Belgrade based company Serbian Business Systems (SBS) in cooperation with the company IBM Serbia presented IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances that are one of the key elements of  IBMs' holistic approach to service-oriented architecture and opened standards for the messages exchange such as XML and the web services based on them. Representatives of some of the government ministries, as well as representatives of several public administration institutions, large public companies and the economy attended the meeting.

End-to-End Web Security – Protecting Users and Servers against the Web Threats (part two)

In the previous edition, we presented Web Security Appliance manufactured by IronPort (now within Cisco Systems), which is used to protect the corporate gateway, i.e. to control web traffic and protect corporate network users.

Cisco ACE Web Application Firewall - XML Gateway manufactured by Cisco Systems, which we are presenting in this edition, is a device used for the protection of publicly available web servers and applications.

Disaster Recovery in Siemens production

On February 12th, Siemens Ltd and its sector, Siemens IT Solutions and Services, organized the meeting whose panelists talked about their solutions intended for IT disaster recovery.
Director Dragan Stokić welcomed the present, while Dragan Radenkov, Head of the Directorate for system services, talked about the global business of Siemens Company. Their addressing served as an introduction for two guests’ from Austria and Germany presentations, although one it was about warming up, since Belgrade was cold and covered with snow that day.

Although the business premise where we spent last three years, on the second floor of a well-known business building in New Belgrade, met all our needs at the moment we moved in, already after a year it turned out we needed more space. BUSINESS MEETINGS IN LJUBLJANA

Delegation of 25 business entrepreneurs, organized by Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, visited Ljubljana from 2nd to 4th April 2009. One delegation consisted of representatives of our magazine InfoReview. During their stay, business meetings with Slovenian enterprises were organized. The hosts of delegations were Crafts and Slovenian Economic Chamber.
Businessmen, members of the delegation expressed satisfaction with the made contacts and information collected during the visit and expressed the wish to make, through Belgrade Chamber, more direct contacts with businessmen from other countries in the region. 



ECDL AT MEGATREND UNIVERSITY


The ECDL is the world’s leading certification program for end-users of personal computers. The ECDL Foundation, as a non-profit organization was established under the auspices of the leading European national computer associations CEPIS members. With its official document dated February 17th 2003 No. COM 796, European Commission established a single framework of transparency of qualifications and competency - Europass, which article 1.2.5 defined the ECDL as a standard for internationally recognized IT training and qualification for information societies.

Open Day of the Students of Electrical Engineering

A traditional 23th Congress of European electrical engineering student was held from 20 to 30 March 2009. The organizer of this event was the Association of Students of Electrical Engineering Europe EESTEC, the local committees Belgrade and Sarajevo. More than 130 students from 45 European universities gathered to improve their cooperation and they spent the first five days of Congress in Belgrade, and the other five in Sarajevo.
Opening ceremony of the Congress was held on Saturday, 21 March in the House of the National Assembly. Besides the Congress participants, the representatives of Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering attended the opening, wishing students successful work and nice stay in the host countries.

BizIT International Conference 2009

Student organization AIESEC and Faculty of Economics in Belgrade at the beginning of April, held bizIT conference for the first time on the topic information technologies
In the pleasant ambience of the Belgrade Fair hall through lectures, presentations and discussions on selected topics, participants had the opportunity to expand their knowledge and meet the needs and business of large trade companies. Students realized the possibilities and importance of applying the information technologies as one of the most important factors of competitiveness in the global business, as well as the importance of information literacy for the successful implementation of IT in business.

ECDL IAN

ECDL Certificate Assigned to People with Impaired Hearing

At a press conference in Media Centre, achievements within the projectProfessional empowerment for deaf and hard of hearing people have been represented. IAN - International Aid Network in partnership with Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Serbia implemented this project, while Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and Microsoft Serbia Financial supported it financially. The project started in June 2008 and ended on 16th March 2009. It included 24 people with hearing impairments, who had the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge required in the modern working environment and the local labour market, which will help them to get a job or apply for better jobs.

WOMEN WILL HAVE MORE SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES!

In early April in Brussels, Council of European Professional Informatics Societies - CEPIS held its 42nd meeting of Assembly of Founders that consists of the representatives of national information societies of all European countries. CEPIS is non-profitable organization closely related to the work of the European Commission seeking to improve and promote a high standard among Informatics Professionals in recognition of the impact that Informatics has on employment, business and society.

FLOWER OF SUCCESS FOR A WOMAN-DRAGON

Section Women's Business Club, Association of Business Women in early March, organized the press conference regarding the competition for the most successful women entrepreneurs in 2009, called "Flower of success for a woman-dragon”.

In organization of the company Filinvest, the Italian house for top-class men fashion "Pal Zileri" held XXI fashion show "Citroen presents-Pal Zileri" in Expo Center, on which Collection spring-summer 2009 was presented. The audience was shown three lines: "Pal Zileri” (classic line), “Pal Zileri Concept” (the sports line) and "Pal Zileri lab” (so-called sexy elegance).  About ten models, including a singer, Sergej Ćetković, walked the runway in three-shade suits.
