TELECOM

WE INVEST IN OURSELVES AND HELP OTHERS

We have often been asked why Telekom Srbija supports schools and universities, cultural and sports events, reconstruction of cultural and historic monuments, and what benefit the Company has from providing means to support these initiatives.

Business is not sustainable on a long-term basis if it is directed exclusively to its own profit and existence. The leading position requires something more and that in fact refers to the way in which we achieve business results in the community in which we act, to the degree of responsibility we voluntarily take upon ourselves and for the general progress of the community.

Majority of business organizations have no plans for insuring business continuity in case of security incidents. Typical scenario is: loss of key staff, loss of vital services as electric power supply, viruses, fires, explosions, data destroyment, hardware and software mistakes and natural disasters like thunderbolts, floods and earthquakes. Malicious human activities should be taken in consideration as well.
If period, in which your organisation fails to deliver a product or service is longer,  the possibility that customers will leave you and look for some other supplier is stronger. In order to stay in business despite security incidents, it is essential to  recover functioning of key business processes as soon as possible.

Business Intelligence (BI) SOLUTIONS FOR BUSINESS INFORMING AND REPORTING

Only few years ago, to think about installation of Business Intelligence (BI) solution meant being ready and capable to invest millions or, at least hundreds of thousands of dollars. Among those who ordered were great banks, insurance companies, multinational corporations...
Nevertheless, suddenly, few years ago a turnover, a twist happened (how, when, why, etc. -we will talk about this perhaps some other time), not exactly the one that we all eagerly expected, however, the innovation extremely important for solutions that we discussed. At once, BI solution becomes a topic available to wide range of people and, as it is familiar (and not only in our country), accustomed translation “BI-Business Intelligence” spontaneously arises. One must acknowledge that the translation does not sound bad. The entire question why has not translator translated BIaPI and opened a new chapter with jokes about drivers with PI number plates (Pirot, a little industrial town in southeastern Serbia; well known by jokes about them – reputed to be the biggest local skinflints (like Scotsman’s)) will forever stay unanswered.

SuperCash S

Integrated fiscal cash register

There were no significant technological improvements on local market of cash registers with fiscal memory in the last 3 years, after implementation of remote cash registers data reading through GPRS terminals, for Tax Administration needs. Although the existing models of fiscal cash registers satisfy the stipulated technical requirements, the customers' requirements have increased in time. At first, cheap fiscal cash registers were required mostly, but their faults were discovered during exploitation. What we would like to say is that imperfect technical capacities of the cash register and faults often cause delays and difficulties in retail sale routine. After the experience gained in operation with cash registers numerous customers have been asking for fiscal cash registers that would show their technical advantages and improve business activities. Modern technological solutions have started to appear on the market and the most prominent one was fiscal cash register SuperCash S with the integrated GPRS terminal.

The issues of privacy and security, although interrelated, are different. With respect to RFID, we define these issues as follows:
Privacy: the ability of the RFID system to keep the meaning of the information transmitted between the tag and the reader secure from non-intended recipients.
Security: the ability of the RFID system to keep the information transmitted between the tag and the reader secure from non-intended recipients.

Turning to governing and supervision of print & copy infrastructure

Infrastructure in today’s enterprises –even in those that are relatively small- is or becomes more and more complex. All new services that modern time requires bring in potential risks, problems, complexity, expenses...
All this technology promised us so called paperless office. We are all familiar with what proverb says about promises, but even without this, we are witnesses that usage of paper has not being reduced- on contrary. In contribution to this, is cardinal price reduction of personal devices for printing, picture digitalization and improvement of their performances that lead to sudden and uncritical purchase of new devices, which was, therefore, the reason for its multiplication. With the raise in number of devices it is becoming harder to get an insight into real number and possibilities with simultaneously raise of problems, expenses, maintenance responsibilities and support of this infrastructure part.
Total expense of usage and infrastructure maintenance for print and copy can come up with 2%-5% of total enterprise profit! Therefore, we are really serious when we say that it is good to sit down and think for a while, how to optimize...
